Preheat oven to 325 degrees

2 cups butter, softened
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:

Cream butter with blender.
Sift flour. Add confectioner' sugar to flour. Blend flour and sugar with butter and vanilla until well blended.
Roll dough into walnut-sized balls. Place on baking sheet. Flatten dough with bottom of glass to 1/2 inch thick.
Bake at 325 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.

To the sugar cookie dough, the following can be added.
1. Chocolate chips
2. White chocolate chips
3. Chopped pecans, walnuts or almond nuts
4. chopped dry cherries or other dry chopped fruits
