3-4 tbsp. olive oil
1 16 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1/4 tsp. oregano
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp. dried basil or 2 tsp fresh basil leaves, chopped fine
3 tsp. chopped parsley
Hot pepper flakes to taste (optional)
salt and pepper to taste

Lightly saute garlic in olive oil.
Remove pan from heat. Add crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, parsley, hot pepper flakes (optional), salt and pepper.
Return to medium heat.
Simmer for 45 minutes, adding a little water as needed. stir frequently, as not to stick.
