1½ C. sugar
1/2 C. shortening or 1 block butter
2 C. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 level tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
2 egg yolks (save 2 whites for icing)
1 C milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 - 9"pans (3 - 8" pans)

Chocolate Icing:
4 squares Bakers unsweetened chocolate, melted
2¼ C. confectioners sugar
1/4 C. hot water
1 unbeaten egg
6 T. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening (butter) and sugar. Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Add eggs and yolks. Add flour mixture alternately with milk and vanilla. Bake in 350º for approximately 30 minutes.

Chocolate Icing:
Place melted chocolate in bowl. Add confectioners sugar with hot water, blend. Add unbeaten egg, blend in 6 tablespoons butter and blend after each addition.
