8 c. sifted flour
4 tsp salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
6 c. brown sugar (4½ c. equals 2 lbs)
3 c. shortening
8 c. rolled oats

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together 3 times or mix well the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda in a large bowl or pan.
Stir in sugar (you may have to mix with your hands)
cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly.
Stir in oats and mix well.
Store mix at room temperature in covered canister or gallon jar.

Grandma's Oatmeal Chippers recipe calls for 6 cups of this mix. After making it, I usually divide it up into 6 cups per bag and vacuum seal them. Then I just have to grab a bag when I go to make the cookies.
