1½ C. sugar
3 eggs
1 C. Wesson oil
2 C, plain flour, sifted
1 tsp each, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice.
1 C. mashed prunes
1/2 C . buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1 C. nuts

Sauce:
1 stick butter
1 C. sugar
1/2 C. buttermilk
1/2 tsp., soda

Directions:
Directions:
Add eggs to sugar and beat well. Add oil and beat well. Sift flour with soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice - twice.
Add mashed prunes to sugar mixture and buttermilk and vanilla. Add flour ingredients, mix well. Add nuts and mix well.

Baking note from Mama: "I use 1 long glass pan and 1 square pan. Cut cake from glass pan in half, making 3 square layers to ice. Have sauce ready to put on hot cake."

There was no baking time or oven temperature, but it sounds really good.

Sauce:
Cool all ingredients together for 10 minutes. Pour over hot cake when taken from oven. Serve hot or cold.
Can be kept in refrigerator a week or more. Will stay moist and good. Don't overcook.
