1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
5 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp cloves
1 cup ground raisins
4 cups cookie crumbs ( Aunt Cese says she uses a 13 1/2 oz box graham cracker crumbs)
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup molasses
3 eggs
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add the eggs. Mix flour, soda, baking powder, salt and spices together in another bowl. Stir raisins into flour mixture. Add to the butter mixture alternating four mixture and cookie crumbs with milk and molasses. Chill overnight (a must). Roll 3/8" thick. Cut into 2" rounds. Sprinkle with sugar before baking. Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes or until done.

The notes on the recipe I got from Aunt Cese says to try 2 cups of crumbs and 2 cups of raisins. Above is the original recipe. The story is that Grandma Zimmer used to bring these cookies to Paola from the Miller and Paine store in Lincoln, Nebraska. Along with the cookies she also brought a box of gum drops!
