Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1½ c. butter
3 c. packed brown sugar
3 lg. eggs, beaten
1 c. dark corn syrup
¼ c. raisins
2 tsp. vanilla extract
½ c. walnuts, chopped
6½ - 7 c. all-purpose flour
Powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375º. Grease baking sheets and set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the beaten eggs and corn syrup and stir. Put the raisins in a small saucepan and add just enough water to cover. Cook over medium-low heat until all of the water is evaporated, about 10 minutes. Add the cooked raisins, vanilla and nuts to the butter mixture. Mix well. Add the flour a little at a time, mixing between each addition, until the mixture resembles pie dough. Roll pieces of stiff dough between your hands to form thin, 5” long “broomsticks.” Place lengthwise on the prepared pans. Bake until golden, about 15 minutes. Let stand for a few minutes before removing from the baking sheets, and then top with powdered sugar. Cool the cookies on a wire rack or a plate and then put into sealed containers. These cookies will stay fresh for up to 5 days. Makes 2 dozen cookies.
