1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
½ c. packed brown sugar
½ c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
¼ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. water
2½ c. all-purpose flour
1 c. chocolate chips

Glaze:
2 egg whites
1 c. brown sugar

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350º. Grease a 9”x 13” baking pan.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Pour the melted butter into a large bowl. In a small bowl, separate the eggs, reserving the whites for the glaze. Add the sugars, vanilla, salt, baking soda, baking powder, 2 egg yolks, water and flour to form a stiff dough. Spread the dough into the prepared baking pan. Spread the chocolate chips evenly over the dough.

Glaze: In a small bowl, beat the 2 egg whites into the brown sugar. Pour the glaze over the bars. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 35 minutes.

Store the bars in a sealed container or cake safe. These will stay fresh for 3 to 4 days. Makes 2 dozen bars.
