Directions: |
Directions:Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a bundt cake pan; set aside. In a large bowl, combine cake mix and gelatin. Add oil and wine; mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour into a prepared cake pan and bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. While cake is baking, combine glaze ingredients in a small saucepan. Simmer over low heat until butter is melted. Pour glaze over cake as soon as it comes out of the oven. Let stand for 20 minutes before turning cake out onto a wire rack or plate. Cool completely. Sprinkle with additional powdered sugar before serving.
Note: Cake is best when it sits overnight. |

Personal
Notes: This recipe is courtesy of French Lick Winery. The first winery we ever visited. We just happened to stop for a break when driving home from a hiking trip. At the time it was branded as Beechwood Mansion and it was a tasting room attached to a bed and breakfast. According to their website: "The original winery opened in French Lick’s Beechwood Mansion in 1995". We were likely one of their first devoted customers!
There was no Frenchlick Casino. An historical society was giving very limited tours of a rundown West Baden Springs resort as a way to keep it from being abandoned and demolished.
