2 (300 g.) packages frozen French-cut green beans
1/2 cup butter
1 medium onion, sliced
1 pound mushrooms, sliced
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
1 cup whipping cream
1 (227-ml) can water chestnuts
1/3 tsp. Tabasco sauce
2 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
1½ cups grated old cheddar cheese

Cook beans, drain and place in greased two- quart casserole. Melt butter in large saucepan; saute
onions and mushrooms until onions are tender. Stir in flour.
Gradually add milk and cream.
Cook, stirring until thickened. Stir in water chestnuts, Tabasco sauce, soy sauce, pepper,salt and cheese.
Stir over low heat until cheese melts - do not boil. pour over cooked beans and stir to mix. Cover and
refrigerate overnight.
For topping. Melt 2 tbsp. butter. Remove from heat, add 1 cup fine dry bread crumbs,1/4 tsp. pepper,
1/4 tsp. salt and 1/3 cups parmesan cheese. Set aside.
About 40 minutes before serving, sprinkle topping over vegetables and heat at 350ºF . Garnish with chopped
parsley.
