2 1/2 c. water
2 1/2 c. vinegar
2 1/2 c. sugar
14 c. + 1 T. canning salt
2 tsp. pickling spices
dill
onion
minced garlic
alum
pickling cucumbers

Directions:
Directions:
Combine water, vinegar, sugar, salt and pickling spices in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and cook until sugar is dissolved. Put sprigs of dill and slices of onion on the bottom of 3 quart jars. Cut cucumber in spears and pack into jars. Add 1/2 tsp. alum and 1 tsp. minced garlic on top of each jar. Pour hot brine over cucumber. Seal jars and hot bath 10 minutes.
