1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup ripe mashed bananas
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Butter two loaf pans and dust with sugar. Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Add the bananas and mix well. Sift the flour, baking soda, nutmeg and salt together. Add alternately with the buttermilk and mix well. Stir in nuts if using. Pour into loaf pans. Bake at 350º for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
