⅔ cups cocoa
3 cups sugar
⅛ tsp salt
1 ½ cups milk
4 ½ Tbl butter
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine cocoa with sugar and salt. Add milk and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.

Cook until a small amount forms a soft ball when dropped in cold water, about 1 hour 45 minutes.

Add butter and vanilla. Beat until mixture thickens.

Pour into a buttered pan or platter, Cut when cool.

Mom use to make this every year at Christmas as gifts. She had a platter she used so that the pieces were thinner on the edges and thicker in the middle. Of course, we always tried to get the middle pieces.
