2 cups raisins
2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Boil the raisins in 1 cup of water for about 5 minutes. Cool. Do not drain.

In a separate bowl, beat sugar with shortening until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.

Add dry ingredients and mix well. Add raisins. Fold in nuts, if desired.

Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheets. Bake at 400º for about 10 minutes.
