4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
3 t baking powder
½ t baking soda
1 T Crisco
1 stick butter
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 ⅓ cup raisins (measured dry and then plumped in hot water)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and baking soda. Add in the crisco and the butter. Beat the eggs and the buttermilk together and add to the other ingredients. Mix in the plumped raisins. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 6" cake pans. Cut a cross on top of the dough to prevent cracking. Bake at 350º for 1-1.5 hours or until a cake tester comes out clean.

Makes 2- 6" loaves
