1 ½ lb ground beef
½ lb ground pork
1 cup sweetened applesauce
4 oz onion, chopped, sautéed and cooled
½ cup plain dry bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
3 T ketchup
2 t salt (or less)
½ t pepper

Optional:
Bacon for topping uncooked meatloaf

Mix together and top uncooked meatloaf:
4-6 T brown sugar
1-1½ cup ketchup
1-2 t mustard

Directions:
Directions:
Gently mix together beef, pork and bread crumbs. Mix in a bowl applesauce, onion, egg, ketchup, salt and pepper. Add this to the meat mixture. Form into a loaf on a cookie sheet lined with non-stick foil. Bake at 350º uncovered for 1¼-1½ hours. You can make this ahead and freeze uncooked with the glaze in a separate small baggie. Thaw both and then bake as directed.
