2 C. sugar
1/2 C. water
2 T. light corn syrup
dash salt
4 egg whites
1/2 t. vinegar
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine: sugar, water, Karo and salt in sauce pan. Cook stirring until sugar is dissolved. Wash sugar crystals from side of pan with pastry brush dipped in water. Clip Candy Thermometer to side of pan.
Boil syrup to soft ball stage 240º on thermometer or until spins a thread from a fork.
While syrup is cooking, beat egg whites in large bowl until foamy. Beat in vinegar and continue to beat until whitesform stiff peeks. Pour the hot syrup in thin stream very slowly into beaten whites continuing to beat the whites.
Beat until frosting is thick and forms soft peaks. Beat in vanilla.
Makes enough for 2 - 9 inch layer cake.
