4 TBSP BUTTER OR MARGARINE
¼ CUP FLOUR
½ TSP SALT
DASH OF PEPPER
2 CUPS MILK

Directions:
Directions:
In small sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat. With flat bottom whisk, stir in flour, salt and pepper. Stir in milk a little at a time, stirring constantly until thickened. Do not let boil. Remove from heat.


This sauce can be used to make a variety of things: chicken gravy (use the drippings from fried chicken); creamed beef and eggs; macaroni and cheese, chicken fried steak.
