½ c butter
⅔ c brown sugar
½ t baking soda
¼ t salt
1 egg
¼ c maple syrup
1 t vanilla
1 c whole wheat flour
1 ½ c flour

2 c powdered sugar
2 T milk
Few drops maple flavor
Food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Beat butter, add sugar, baking soda and salt. Beat until combined. Add egg, syrup and vanilla and beat well. Beat in whole wheat flour. Mix in rest of flour. Chill for 3 hours . Roll ⅛ inch thick and cut with 2½ inch cutters. Place on parchment paper lined sheets and bake at 375º for 7-8 minutes. Cool and frost with maple glaze.
Mix together powdered sugar milk and maple flavoring. Divide into 4 parts. Tint red, green, yellow and gold. Paint cookies with multiple colors using silicone basting brushes, swirling for effect.
