1 c. butter or margarine (softened)
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 tbsp. buttermilk
5 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Additional sugar may be needed.

Preheat oven to 400

Cream butter then gradually add sugar beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add buttermilk, beat well. Combine flour and baking soda and gradually stir into mixture. Stir in vanilla.

Chill dough for 3 hours or overnight.

Roll dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into rounds with 3 1/2 " cookie cutter. Sprinkle with sugar.

Bake for 12 minutes
