1 ½ c sugar
1 c butter room temperature
1 c sour cream
1 egg
1 t vanilla
1 t baking soda
½ t salt
4 ½ c flour

Frosting:
1 lb powdered sugar
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese room temperature
½ c butter room temperature
1 t vanilla
food coloring optional
sprinkles optional

Directions:
Directions:
For the cookies: Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add sour cream,egg and vanilla. Continue mixing until well blended. Add dry ingredients to a medium size bowl stir until lightly mixed. Add flour mixture to butter mixture one cup at a time until all ingredients are well incorporated. Refrigerate dough a minimum of one hour. Preheat oven to 425º. Roll out dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut cookies. Place cookies on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 5 minutes.

For the frosting: Beat all ingredients until well blended and there are no lumps. Add food coloring if desired. Spread frosting on cooled cookies and top with sprinkles if desired.
