1 c. butter or margarine, softened
1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 t. vanilla
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour*
1/4 t. salt
1/4 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 400º. Mix thoroughly butter, sugar and vanilla. Work in flour, salt and nuts until dough holds together. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 10-12 minutes or until set but not brown. While warm, roll in confectioners' sugar. Cool. Roll in sugar again.

*do not use self raising flour.
Ambrosia Balls: omit nuts; add 1 c. finely cut coconut and 1 T. grated orange peel with the flour.
