2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening (1/2 butter 1/2 vegetable shortening)
2 eggs
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
juice and rind from one large orange

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs one at time, beating well. Add orange juice and rind. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Mix soda in sour milk. Mix, adding alternately, dry ingredients and liquids. Drop on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350*
While a little warm, ice with:
1 box powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons butter and
juice from orange
to make good spreading.
