1 c. dried cherries (about 5 ½ oz.)
⅓ c. cherry liqueur (i.e.; Cherry Heering or Chambord)
2 T. water
1 ½ c. flour
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. baking soda
1 stick butter, room temperature
½ c. granulated sugar
½ c. light brown sugar, packed
2 lg. eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp almond extract
1 ¼ c. each bittersweet and white chocolate chips (1 lb. total)

Preheat oven to 375º F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Bring cherries, liqueur, and water to boil in small saucepan. Remove from heagt and let soak 15 minutes. Drain and pat cherries dry.
Whisk flour, salt, and baking soda in medium bowl. Using electric mixer, cream butter and both sugars together in large bowl. Add eggs and both flavorings and beat to blend. Add flour mixture and beat on low just to blend. Stir in cherries and all chocolate chips. Scoop tablespoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 1 inch apart.
Bake until edges are light golden, about 13 minutes, turning baking sheets halfway through cooking. Transfer to rack and cool. You may drizzle melted dark chocolate over them after they are cool.
