"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 whole chicken (4-5 pounds)
6 cups water (or enough to just barely cover chicken)
4 cans refrigerated biscuits
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Unwrap chicken, remove neck and other parts from inside then rinse in water. Place chicken in large pot or dutch oven then add water. Salt and pepper to taste. Boil chicken for about an hour until done. Remove from pot and let cool; set broth aside. Once cooled, cut or pull away meat from bone and set aside. Bring broth back to boil and open refrigerated biscuits. Pinch off biscuits and drop into boiling broth then reduce heat and cover; stir occasionally. Biscuit pieces will expand then reduce to normal size after cooking for about 15 minutes. Now add about 1/2 the chicken meat to the pot with the dumplings. (The other 1/2 of the chicken meat can be used for chicken salad or your other favorite dish.)

Note: You can use a combination of water and canned chicken broth which can add a little more flavor. Or you can add boullion for additional flavor. This helps when you get a tasteless whole chicken.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is a traditional family dish at Christmas and is considered a side dish to the turkey.
