Date Mixture:
1 lb dates (ground)
½ cup white sugar
½ cup water

Dough:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening (Crisco/butter)
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
3½ cups flour
1 tsp soda
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
Directions:
Cook and col Date mixture. Add chopped nuts if desired.

Roll dough between waxed paper with a little flour on waxed paper and dough. Spread with date mixture. Roll and refrigerate. Slice and bake at 375º for 10 minutes. Makes two rolls.
