Cake:
2 sticks butter
1 cup water
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Icing:
1 stick butter
6 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups powdered sugar
6 tablespoons milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 350º.

Grease and flour a jelly roll pan.

Mix dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking soda and salt) in a mixing bowl.

Melt 2 sticks butter in pan; add water and 4 T. Cocoa and bring to a boil. Pour over dry ingredients. Mix. Add in eggs and sour cream and vanilla.

Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 20 minutes.

Icing:
Bring 1 stick of butter and 6 T. Cocoa to a boil. Add vanilla, powdered sugar, milk and nuts. Mix well and frost cake immediately.

My mom used to make this cake for family gatherings and I have too. It’s definitely a favorite.
