3 cups grated Swiss cheese or other flavorful white cheese
6+ large slices French bread

1-1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup vermouth or white wine
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°.

Layer bread and cheese in 2 layers in buttered 9x13 baking dish.

Mix remaining ingredients well and pour over bread/cheese. Let stand for 30 minutes so liquids soak into the bread.

Place the baking dish into a larger pan of hot water and bake for 1 hour.

Another favorite recipe from the 80's - this one has a nice piquant taste from the vermouth, the Swiss cheese, and the herbs. Makes a great dish to serve guests.
