1lb chicken, beef or lamb mince
1 large onion ( for both the base and meatballs. Diced)
Chillis per taste
Thyme about 1 tsp
1-2 tablespoonfuls oil
Salt to taste ) less rather than more)
Dhania for meatballs as well as garnish
Lemon juice
Ginger garlic about 1 tablespoonful
Vegetables
Pepper squash cut up or sweet potato or potato

Spices for base
Big jeera,cinnamon sticks,cloves.
1tsp masala

For chutney base
Tomatoes 3 large crushed
Salt to taste (can omit as meatballs are salted)
Diced half onion
1 tsp turmeric,1tsp masala, 1/2 tsp big jeera(fennel) 3 cloves,1-2 cinnamon sticks
1 chilli

Preparation for meatballs
Rinse meat just slightly by running gently under cold water
Add some lemon juice
Add ginger garlic

Add to meat diced half of onion
Thyme leaves chopped cilantro( use half of bunch approx handful washed and chopped)
chillis per taste
Ginger/ garlic
Salt to taste ( less is more)
Form small oblong balls approx 15/20
In pan braise the spices ( big jeera,cinnamon sticks,cloves) until fragrant
Add chopped onions,oil
Add 1 chilli or chilli flakes
Add 1 tsp Turmeric and sauté Add 1 tsp masala-sauté
The add crushed tomatoes
Let chutney cook
Then add meat balls Close pot and let cook for about 5/10 minutes watching that it does not burn
When meatballs half cooked add vegetable either pepper squad cut up or sweet potato or potatoes
Allow to cook slowly Add salt if needed
Add cilantro to garnish
Serve with brown rice , roti , naan or tortillas

I use chicken mince usually and make about 20 meatballs out of 1lb mince . I usually make the balls 'torpedo ' or oblong shaped.Veggies favoured are cut up pepper squash segments or potatoes or sweet potatoes Picture with sweet potatoes attached
