1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon root beer extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Root Beer Frosting
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 teaspoons root beer extract
1-2 tablespoons hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (180 degrees).
Mix together brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter or margarine, egg, buttermilk and 1 teaspoon of root beer extract.
Add flour, baking soda and salt and mix well.Cover and refrigerate for one hour.
Drop rounded teaspoon sized pieces of dough 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes. Frost when cooled.

To Make Root Beer Frosting: Mix together confectioner's sugar, 1/3 cup butter or margarine, 1 1/2 teaspoons of root beer extract on high speed with an electric mixer. Add hot water. Brush on top of hot cookies.
