1 large onion sliced thin

Mix together well and then coat the onion slices:
1/2 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg beaten
1/2 cup evaporated canned milk

Heat Crisco oil in a fryer (use amount of oil suggested for your machine) or skillet (at least 1 inch of oil) approximately 400º
Drop in 1 layer of rings and brown on each side
Drain on paper towels and serve immediately

Mom used to make these for us when we were kids with good cheeseburgers and homemilk shakes.
We didn't eat out often where burgers and shakes were concerned so this was a special treat for us!
