1-⅓ C all purpose flour
⅔ C rolled oats
6 TBS granulated sugar
1 C (2 sticks) butter

FILLING:
8 large apples, such as Granny Smith, Empire or Johnathan
4 TBS firmly packed brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

1. Preheat over to 425º. Grease a 4-quart baking dish
2. For the topping, place the flour, rolled oats, sugar and butter in a large bowl and mix well.
3. For the filling, peel and core and slice the apples. Layer the apple slices in the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the apple slices.
4. Sprinkle the topping mixture over the top.
5. Bake until the apples have softened and the crumble is lightly golden. 20-25 minutes.
6. Serve warm.

You can make this with fresh berries but if you do, sprinkle 2 TBS. all-purpose flour over them before covering with the crumble. The flour binds the liquid given off by the berries so the crumble won't become soggy.
