Cake:
1 c. water
2 sticks margarine
4 Tbsp. cocoa
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
½ c. buttermilk (do no substitute sour milk)
1 tsp. vanilla

Frosting:
1 stick margarine
4 Tbsp. cocoa
6 Tbsp. buttermilk
1 lb. (box) powdered sugar

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Cake:
Boil water, margarine, and cocoa together.

Mix sugar, flour, and baking soda together. Stir in boiled ingredients until moist. Add eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla. Mix well.

Spread in 9x13 cake pan or cookie sheet with sides (cookie sheet is preferred). Bake 20 min. only for cookie sheet, slightly longer for cake pan.

Frosting:
Mix all frosting ingredients in same pan used to boil liquid cake ingredients. Mix with hand mixer until very smooth. Pour over hot cake. (Halve frosting recipe if using cake pan).
