1 baked pie shell
1½ cup sugar
6 Tbsp cocoa
6 Tbsp flour
4 eggs slightly beaten
1 large can evaporated milk
2 cups milk (total of 4 cups milk)
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 stick of butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, cocoa, flour, milk and eggs together in saucepan. Cook until mixture is thick. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Place in a cooked pie shell and top with meringue. Brown in 350 oven.

Meringue: Beat 3 egg whites (at room temperature) and 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar until foamy. Beat in 6 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp at a time. Continue beating until stiff and glossy. Beat in 1/2 tsp vanilla. Spread over filling. Bake 10 minutes @ 350º or until a delicate brown.

This is Harold's mother's recipe. She used to fix this for us when we were in Rye, Tx. for a visit. It is a mild chocolate pie, and has always been my favorite.
