Apricot Bread Recipe

1 cup dried apricots
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts

*Soak apricots in warm water for 30 minutes, drain and chop fine
*Mix thoroughly sugar, shortening, and egg. stir in water and orange juice
*Sift together and stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
*Blend in apricots and nuts
*Pour batter into a greased and floured bread pan
*Let stand for 20 minutes
*Bake at 350 for 55-60 minutes
