BOTTOM LAYER:
1 c. flour
1 c. butter
2 tbsp. brown sugar

TOP LAYER:
2 eggs beaten
1 ½ c. brown sugar
1 c. chopped walnuts (or pecans- they taste better)
1 c. shred coconut
¼ tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. flour
½ tsp. baking powder

BOTTOM LAYER:
Mix together all the "bottom layer" ingredients
Press into a 8" x 11" pan
Bake at 325º for 10 minutes
Cool

TOP LAYER:
Mix together the eggs and vanilla
Sift together all the dry ingredients, add in the walnuts then mix in the wet ingredients.

Pour this mixture over the cooled bottom layer.
Bake at 350º for approximately 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool then cut into squares

I believe this was Grandma Goddens recipe and mom baked this at Christmas every year.
Absolutely a family favorite and brings back a lot of wonderful childhood memories.
