2 1/2 lbs lean beef stew meat
3 tbsp vegetable oil
3 tbsp flour
2 1/2 cups beef broth
1/4 cup tomato paste
2 tbsp cider vinegar
1 1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 ground black pepper
4 whole cloves
1 lb white onion, peeled

Directions:

Cut meat into 2 inch pieces.
In a dutch oven or heavy saucepan, heat oil.
Add meat cubes and brown over high heat.
Stir in flour.
Add broth, tomato paste, vinegar, salt, cinnamon, and pepper.
Stick cloves into one of the whole onions and add to broth.
Bring to boiling, stirring constantly.
Cover, reduce heat and cook for 1 1/2 hours.
Add remaining onions and cook 1/2 hr longer, or until meat and onions are tender.
