1/2 cup light Karo syrup
1/2 cup boiling water
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 egg whites
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Cook all but egg whites until it spins a thread. Pour 1/4 over stiffly beat egg whites. Cook rest of mixture to a hard ball stage when tested in cold water. Pour slowly over egg whites and beat hard and long and well. Add one teaspoon vanilla and one cup chopped pecans.

Pour into buttered cake pan. Cut into bite size pieces when cooled.

My mom made this only at Christmas time and gave it away as gifts. I ate as much as I could when she wasn't looking but always got caught. I remember trying to make it when I got older but it was always a fail. Don't know what it was but will have to try it again some day. So, so good. Yummy
