⅔ c. shortening
¾ c. sugar
1 egg
½ c. orange juice
2 tbsp. grated orange rind
2 c. sifted flour
½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt

Orange Butter Icing:
2 c. confectioners sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. grated orange rind
2 tbsp. orange juice

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 400º. Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Stir in orange juice and grated orange rind. Sift dry ingredients together and stir in. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes in oven for 400º or until brown on edges.
Make Orange Butter Icing. Blend confectioners sugar and butter together. Then stir in orange rind and orange juice until smooth.
Frost each cookie with frosting.
Makes 4 dozen cookies.
