Sweet Milk
1 egg
1 cup sweet milk
1 cup corn meal
1 teas salt
2 teas baking power
2 Tbsp shortening, melted in pan
Buttermilk
1 egg
1 1/3 cup buttermilk
1 cup corn meal
1 teas salt
teas baking soda
2 Tbsp shortening, melted in pan

Directions:
Directions:
1) Heat oven to 425 degrees
2) Beat egg and milk together
3) Stir in meal, salt, baking powder
4) Put shortening in 8 x 8 x 2 in pan (or round black iron skillet) and put in oven until shortening melts and pan is piping hot.
5) Pour hot shortening into corn meal batter and stir.
6) Immediately pour batter into hot pan.
7) Bake 25 30 minutes or until golden brown.
