• 2 cups milk – scalded
• ½ cup shortening
• ½ cup sugar
• 1 package dry yeast (not rapid rise)
• 4 cups flour, divided
• ½ teas salt
• ½ teas baking soda
• 1 teas baking powder
• ½ stick butter or margarine

Directions:
Directions:
1) Heat milk, shortening and sugar together and then cool
2) Stir in 1 package dry yeast
3) Add flour and beat well
4) Let rise covered for 1 hour
5) Stir down and stir in approximately 1 ½ cups flour, salt, baking soda and powder
6) Knead
7) Prepare biscuits
8) Melt butter or margarine
9) Roll out dough ¼ to ½ inch thick
10) Cut with cutter or glass top
11) Dip in melted butter
12) Fold in pan
13) Can freeze or let rise for 1 hour and then bake
14) Let set 3 hours after freezing
15) Bake at 400 degrees for 15 – 20 minutes until brown
Yield: 3 dozen
