1/2 cup of sugar
1/3 cup all purpose flour
dash of salt
3 eggs, separated
2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vanilla wafers
5 ripe bananas, sliced

if making a big bowl made need to double or triple recipe

Meringue
1/4 cup sugar
egg whites from above

Directions:
Directions:
Mix 1/2 cup sugar, flour, and salt in a double boiler . blend in 3 egg yolks and milk. Cook , uncovered, over boiling water stirring constantly for 10-12 minutes or until thickened. remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
spread small amount of pudding in bottom of bowl , layer wafers on top then bananas ; repeat until all pudding is used.
Beat egg whites into soft peaks gradually adding in 1/4 cup sugar. Beat until stiff. then spoon on top of pudding and brown at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until brown
