2/3 Cup Sugar
1/4 Cup Shortening
1 tsp Vanilla
1 Egg
1 1/2 Cups Flour (Self rising)
(if you use Plain Flour, add 1/4 tsp salt & 2 tsp.baking powder)
1/2 Cup Milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.

in a mixing bowl, cream shortening & sugar together. Add unbeaten egg & vanilla & beat thoroughly. Add flour in alternately with milk to creamed shortening mixture. Pour into well oiled pan.

Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.


Vanilla Sauce/Dip

1 Cup Sugar
2 Tbs flour
2 Cups boiling water
2 Tbs butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt

Combine sugar, salt, flour together & add butter to dry mixture. Cook over hot water, stirring constantly for 8 minutes. Still until blended & add vanilla. Serve over cake or on the side as a dip
