Pudding:
2 C. milk
1 C. sugar
1/3 C. flour
½ tsp. salt
2 Tbs. chocolate
3 eggs, separated (yolks for the pudding, whites for the meringue)
1 Tbs. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Meringue:
3 egg whites
¼ tsp. cream of tartar
¼ C. sugar

Pudding:
Add milk slowly to sugar, flour, salt, chocolate, beaten egg yolks, butter, and vanilla in a saucepan over low heat. Cook until soft boil and thickened. Pour pudding mixture into baked pie shell.

Meringue:
(Use a CLEAN metal bowl)
Beat room temperature egg whites with mixer until they are glossy and smooth, add cream of tartar to help egg whites hold form. Slowly add sugar to the whites.
Spread meringue on top of pie making peaks, place pie in 350* warm oven (about 4 inches from heat) for about 10 minutes, until golden.
