1 cup lard or shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 tsp salt
3 cups flour
1/2 cup cold water

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, beat lard and butter together. Add salt and mix well. Beat in 1 cup of flour. Add remaining flour 1 cup at a time, creaming well with the back of a spoon with each addition. Add water all at once. With back of spoon, push flour mixture into the water evenly. Quickly form into a ball. This will be sticky so use plenty of flour when rolling out pastry. This pastry will roll out smoothly and will not fall to pieces.
