2 pcks yeast - soften in 1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
3 cups warm milk
4 eggs separate egg whites
2 tablespoon butter
4 cups flour
1 teas salt
2 teas cardamon

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk and let cool, Dissolve yeast in bowl in 1 cup water.
Add milk and sugar, add 2 cups flour, salt and cardamon and beat well.
seperate egg yolks from whites Add yolks and butter and remaining 2 cups flour and beat till blended.
in seperate bowl beat egg whites till fluffy and fold into batter.

Let rise in warm place until doubled about 1 - 2 hours.cover with towel

Heat my ableskiver pan with oil, fill each half way with oil. Take small measuring cup and fill each
whole in pan with batter. Flip each donut over as it browns. when all sides are brown put on
paper towel to drain.

Roll each donut into sugar and store

You may also throw raisens into donuts if you like as they cook

This is an old German recipe that was handed down through the family.
we would make this recipe every Christmas Eve after we came home from Church.
