3/4 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
5 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoons corn starch
1 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons catsup

Directions:
Directions:
Mix corn starch, soy sauce, 1/4 cup water and catsup in a small bowl.

Bring 3/4 cup water and sugar to boil, stir to dissolve sugar. Add vinegar, cook 1 minute. Add soy sauce mixture to the boiling liquid. Stir and cook until thickened. Cool slightly before serving.

May be served warm or cold.

This sweet and sour dipping sauce pairs nicely with the won-tons I learned to make in a Japanese cooking class I took in college in 1974. This recipe for the won-tons is in this book also.
