2 cups mashed potatoes
1 large egg
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
1 1/2 cups flour

1 tbsp margarine
1/2 cups fresh sliced mushrooms

1/2 cup chopped green onion
1 cup grated gruyere cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1 large egg fork beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Crust: Mix first 6 ingredients in medium bowl to make soft dough. Roll out 1/2 on well floured surface into 12x9 inch rectangle.

Filling: Melt margarine in frying pan. Sauté mushrooms until golden. Remove to medium bowl. Cool slightly.

Add next 3 ingredients. Stir. Spoon 1/2 of filling down length in center third of rectangle. Cut perpendicular slits in dough about 1 inch wide from filling outward to edges. Fold strips to cross over center portion in braid design. Repeat with second 1/2 of pastry and filling.

Carefully transfer braids to greased baking sheet using pancake lifter. Brush tops with egg. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake in 375º oven for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
