Seven pounds cucumbers
Two cups lime (kind you use in garden)
Two gallons cold water

Syrup: two quarts apple cider vinegar, four and ½ pounds (9 cups) sugar, one tablespoon salt, one teaspoon celery seed, one teaspoon cloves, one teaspoon pickling spices

Directions:
Directions:
Thinly slice cucumbers.
Cover with solution of lime and water.
Let soak for 24 hours (stir a few times to be sure all are covered with solution).
Rinse thoroughly with clean cold water and soak in clean cold water for three hours.
Drain and soak cukes with the syrup.
Heat the syrup to boiling and pour over the cukes. Let cukes soak overnight (24 hours).
In morning, put cukes and solution in kettle and simmer 40 minutes.
Pack into pint jars and seal.
