1⅓ cups sifted all-purpose flour
⅔ cup fine cornmeal
3½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 eggs well beaten
⅔ cup of milk
⅓ cup of honey
¼ cup melted shortening or butter

Directions:
Directions:
SIft dry ingredients. To well beaten eggs add milk, honey and melted butter. Combine the two mixtures and beat until smooth. Pour into oiled pan (8"x8" x2"). Bake in hot oven at 400ºF for 1 hour. Periodically check with a toothpick. If the batter sticks to the pick it needs to cook more. Do not over cook. Serve hot with hot maple syrup.
